Crosley CR44CD Turntable Console with CD Player and AM/FM Tuner Overview
Realizing he could sell more radios by providing quality entertainment, Crosley developed WLW, the world's most powerful radio station. It's rumored that the station could be heard at times as far away as Australia. Crosley's station broadcast a gamut of programming but reached its 500,000-watt peak in 1932 when President Franklin D. Roosevelt first flipped the gold plated switch from the White House to transmit his Fireside Chats. At that time, the impressive Turntable Console CD was a common fixture in homes nationwide. As American as baseball and root beer floats, this furniture styled piece was as functional as it was fabulous. Grand in appearance, and handsome in design the Turntable Console is handcrafted of solid hardwoods and veneers and is the last full size console inspired by an industry giant. This renowned design is true to tradition with an AM/FM radio and three-speed turntable discreetly hidden under the hinge top lid, yet adds a dose of modern technology with a fully functioning CD player.Crosley CR44CD Turntable Console with CD Player and AM/FM Tuner Specifications
The handsome CR44CD turntable console--which also includes a CD player and AM/FM radio--pays tribute to the classic consoles that were common fixtures in Depression-era homes. A must for listening to President Franklin Roosevelt's fireside chats, a Yankees or Dodgers game, or the latest serialized mystery, the consoles featured furniture-like cabinets that fit seamlessly in most living rooms--quite unlike the sleek, high-tech look of modern electronics. The CR44CD fits the same mold, with a cabinet made of handcrafted solid hardwoods and veneers. The grand yet cozy appearance is ideal for homes with traditional furnishings or listeners on a nostalgia kick.Inside the console sits a three-speed (33-1/3, 45, and 78 rpm) belt-drive turntable for listening to your favorite LPs, along with a front-loading CD player for enjoying more contemporary formats. The turntable and AM/FM radio are discreetly hidden under the hinged top lid, while the CD player's front slot is subtly integrated within the classic styling so as not to stand out. Feature-wise, the CD player offers a programmable 20-track memory and repeat play (one and all tracks), so listeners can create custom soundtracks for parties or casual listening. The analog AM/FM radio, meanwhile, comes with an external FM antenna to improve reception. Additional features include a diamond-stylus turntable needle and a pair of dynamic full-range stereo speakers.
The CR44CD, which sports a compelling oak finish, measures 21 by 36.25 by 13.25 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a 90-day warranty.
